Hi! I'm Jen, and I'm a "Red Sox Sweetee" ~
When I was younger I was what you'd call a 'tomboy'! One thing I remember quite well about my childhood is playing pick-up games at the city park in St. Marys, WV. It was a time when boys didn't mind having a girl or two on their team, so I played ball with the boys. My only focus was on batting and I wasn't so bad. When it came to fielding, however, I was pretty clueless....not quite knowing where to throw the ball if it came my way. But it was a great way to spend play time. As time passed, baseball playing boyfriends and brothers came into my life, so I spent hours and hours being a spectator of the sport. Because my Grandfather, Father and brothers were loyal Pittsburgh Pirates fans, I sorta said I was one, too. But when I met my husband I began my love affair not only with him, but with the Boston Red Sox as well.
My husband goes to Boston with a group of diehard Red Sox fans/friends every summer. My son wasn't a part of this summer pilgrimage until age 9, when he announced he was an Atlanta Braves fan. After hearing those 'forbidden' words, my husband has since included our son in this annual Boston outting. Have you ever seen the movie "Fever Pitch"? If so, then you will understand when I say I live with TWO exact replicas of the Jimmy Fallon character! Really! Everything in life revolves around Red Sox games, wins and losses, trades, AL East standings, and so on. But I love living life on the Sox Sidlines!
Two relatives have previously been working on 'The Red Sox Stop' on Keep It Simple Sweetee. However, they're busy with school and work, so today, October 9th, 2009, I've decided to 'step up to the plate' and work this part of the website myself! Please know I welcome input, suggestions, and any insight you have to offer regarding all the happenings within 'The Red Sox Nation', so please, Bring It On! |
